Below are some of the ways we show Roosevelt's 5 Bees in music, and why it is important we show each aspect of Roosevelt's 5 Bees in music class.
Be Respectful
We are lucky to have many wonderful instruments to play in music class. We need to show respect for our resources by playing instruments the way they are meant to be played. Students need to be respectful of our learning by staying on task and respectful of others by choosing kind and helpful words and actions.
Be Responsible
It is important that students are responsible for the materials we use in class - from pencils and paper to recorders and Chromebooks! Students must also be responsible for their own learning by paying attention in class and asking for help if they need it.
Be Caring
Music is for everyone, but some of us might be more nervous about performing than others. Using empathy helps us show kindness to all our classmates when performing and when learning new skills in class. If a friend needs help, help them! If a friend needs some encouragement, think of nice words to say!
Be Safe
We do lots of moving in music and since we have limited space in our classroom, it is especially important we act safely. Following directions for safe movements during activities, dances, and music games is a necessity. When we sit on the floor to play instruments, we need to pay extra close attention to where we are walking so we do not trip over instruments or our friends playing the instruments.
Be Fit
In music we will keep our voices in shape by using our proper singing voice. We will keep our bodies healthy by dancing and moving to music.
