2nd Grade Remote Learning
April 1, 2, 3, 6, & 7
Part 1: Create a Rhythm Composition
- Use the notes ta, titi, half note, and rest to create a rhythm composition.
- You can use the paper below if you have a printer and you would like to print it out or you can write it on any paper you have at home.
- There is a rhythm review sheet below these directions to help you remember how many sounds each note makes and how many beats each note lasts.
- If you get stuck trying to think of a rhythm pattern, you can look at the 2nd Grade Rhythm Practice rhythms you worked on last week.
- Remember - each measure is going to get filled with four beats.
Part 2: Perform Your Composition.
- Find a grown-up, brother or sister, or stuffed animal and perform your composition for them.
- You could perform your composition using your voice, body percussion (claps, stomps, pats, snaps), an instrument you have at home, or a found sound instrument like tapping on top of an oatmeal container to make a drum.
- You could even perform this composition for family or friends you don’t live with if you video chat with them on your phone or computer.
Bonus Part 3: Add Words to Your Composition.
- If you finished your rhythm composition and you would like to add more to it, you can add words to your composition.
- Your words can be about any topic you would like.
- Each sound in your rhythm composition will match up with one syllable in your words.
- Ms. Kwasny made an example in case you have questions. This example is posted below.
