About Music at Field Elementary School
Each grade has specific concepts and skills to learn and develop throughout the year, but all students are assessed on singing skills, understanding musical concepts, accurate rhythmic performance, and correct instrument playing. Homework, Assignments, Projects
Field School music students do not have any regular homework or assignments to be completed outside of school. Additional practice or study outside of class is not required, but is optional for any students who wish to further strengthen their musical skills.

About Music at Emerson Middle School
Music classes at Emerson Middle School include 6th Grade General Music and electives for 7th and 8th Grade students. Music electives available include Digital Music Lab, Musical Theater Workshop, Vocal Power, Guitar, and Keyboarding. Ms Kwasny teaches 6th Grade General Music, Digital Music Lab, and Keyboarding. About Ms. Kwasny
Ms. Kwasny holds a Bachelor of Music Education from DePauw University and a Master of Musical Arts in Music Education from Boston University. She is a doctoral student at Boston University working toward a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Music Education.
She has been teaching in District 64 for nine years—the first five at Field Elementary School and Emerson Middle School, her sixth at Roosevelt Elementary School and Emerson Middle School, and her seventh through ninth back at Field Elementary School and Emerson Middle School. As an alumna, she is especially happy to be teaching in District 64.
Ms. Kwasny was a 2017-2018 Illinois Teaching Policy Fellow with Teach Plus Illinois and a 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 Senior Policy Fellow with Teach Plus Illinois. In 2018-2019 Ms. Kwasny was a member of the working group that developed the recommendation for the Arts Indicator, which was adopted by the Illinois State Board of Education in March 2020.
Outside of school Ms. Kwasny enjoys teaching a trumpet studio and playing in a brass ensemble at church. She loves spending time with her family and friends, and playing with her spunky dog Lorraine is one of her favorite things to do!
