Empathy for Others
Use Self-control
Below are some of the ways we show Field CARES in music, and why it is important we show each aspect of Field CARES in music class.
Cooperate with Others
We work together a lot in music. Cooperating with other students when we do group work or sing or play instruments as a class is very important! It is also important that students cooperate with the teacher by following directions so we can get to all the fun learning activities that are planned!
Act Safely
We do lots of moving in music and since we have class on the stage or in the classrooms, it is especially important we act safely. Following directions for safe movements during movement activities, dances, and music games is necessary.
Show Respect and be Responsible
We are lucky to have many wonderful instruments to play in music class. We need to show respect for our resources by playing instruments the way they are meant to be played. Students need to be respectful of our learning by staying on task and respectful of others by choosing kind and helpful words. It is important that students are responsible for the materials they use in class - from pencils and paper to recorders!
Empathy for Others
Music is for everyone, but some of us might be more nervous about performing than others. Using empathy helps us show kindness to all our classmates when performing and when learning new skills in music.
Use Self-Control
Using self-control helps us get to all the activities planned in a day. It is especially important when playing instruments and during movement activities, since students have lots of freedom to practice and interact with the music in their own way during these times.
